International College of Tasmania t/a TasCollege General English offers a range of English classes in Melbourne and Hobart to prepare the student to live, study and work in Australia. Our General English program focuses on foundational language and skills you need, providing a solid base in grammar and the core skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
TasCollege General English (ELICOS) program is aimed at non-native English speakers or people with a minimum to average level of English competency. Students will learn with experienced and qualified teachers in small class sizes. The objective of this General English-speaking course is to help you gain confidence in everyday situations and prepare you for real-life English-speaking environments. This course also prepares the student to pursue the vocational education and training in Australia.
TasCollege offers General English at five different levels i.e.

There are no specific prerequisites (except the age requirement) to enter General English. Students will be given a placement test to determine which English level is best suited to their needs.
TasCollege will employ a range of assessment methods that are fair, valid, reliable and reasonable while ensuring they meet the requirements of the relevant Training Package and the rules of evidence.
Assessments for this course have been designed for classroom-based face-to-face delivery and assessment. Assessments will include a range of assessment tasks such as written, practical, project, case study and observation tasks, undertaken at prescribed assessment schedules.
